SMiRT 23 Conference Programme

The detailed conference schedule will be determined during 2014 and finalised at the November 2014 planning meeting. However, even at this early stage there is a lot of information that will help you plan your trip.

On each day of the conference there will be plenary leadership lectures or workshops and at least ten parallel papers sessions. The workshops already in the planning stages include:

  • Nuclear Applications of Graphite
  • High Temperature Assessment
  • New build and the harmonisation of codes and standards
  • Small modular reactors (SMRs)
  • Flooding Hazards – developments post Fukishima
  • Component Fragility of Nuclear Power Plants
  • Nugenia – European Collaborative Research & Development for Gen 2 & 3 Reactors

In addition to the daytime schedule, the following activities will also be provided for conference delegates:

Sunday 9th August 2015
Ice breaker reception to welcome all guests to the conference

Monday 10th August 2015
Conference opening ceremony with Bob Ainsworth delivering the Jaeger Lecture

Tuesday 11th August 2015
Complimentary evening entertainment at The Lowry

Thursday 13th August 2015
The official conference dinner will be held in the magnificent Machester Cathedral

Friday 14th August 2015
The Early Career Award will be presented to the winner in the morning

The end of the conference will be marked with a special farewell lunch
